As with any expensive purchase, buying a Bernese Mountain Dog requires a great deal of forethought. You must consider the care, attention and exercise required as well as the costs of feeding and medical care. Like most things in life, owning a Bernese Mountain Dog has both upsides and downsides. Getting a Bernese puppy is not a decision to be taken lightly. Some of the questions you must consider are:
  • Who will feed and walk the dog every day?
  • Do you have the time and desire to train a dog?
  • Can you afford the cost of food and vet bills?
  • What do you do with the dog while on vacation?
  • Can your home accommodate a large dog?
  • Are you prepared for a lifetime commitment to this dog?
  • A Bernese is a large dog that sheds volumes of black fur. Can you tolerate fur all over the house?

If you can answer all these questions and more positively, perhaps you are prepared to be owned by a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy. They will surely steal your heart away and be your constant loving companion for as long as they live.

We have been breeding Bernese since 1988. We have bred many dogs who have attained their Championship titles as well as draft and obedience titles. All our dogs have their hips and elbows cleared with OFA or GDC. They also have their eyes cleared by an ophthalmologist and are certified through CERF. All health clearances can be found on any dog's page. When we place a puppy it is with the intention of maintaining a lifelong relationship with the new owners.
